County Route 84 is Michael and April Prutsman, a husband-and-wife acoustic duo from the rural hills of Western New York. Through original music, personal stories, and honest conversation, they create spaces where faith, recovery, struggle, grace, and ordinary life can meet.
Roots Run Deep reflects the life Michael and April have built together, the difficult seasons they have walked through, and their belief that our deepest stories often become the places where hope takes root. Their songs are shaped by real life—not easy answers—and speak to the experiences that form us: family, disappointment, healing, second chances, and the quiet ways God meets us along the road.
Through Roots Run Deep — Songs & Stories, County Route 84 shares intimate, story-centered gatherings with recovery communities, small groups, churches, and others looking for something honest and hopeful. These gatherings weave together original songs, personal stories, moments of laughter and reflection, and room for genuine conversation. They are designed to help people slow down, listen well, and recognize something of their own story in what is being shared.
At the heart of it all is what Michael and April call Theology in Work Boots. Their faith is rooted in Jesus, but it isn’t confined to Sunday mornings or polished answers. It shows up on dirt roads, in hard seasons, around kitchen tables, and wherever people are trying to make sense of real life. Their gatherings are open to anyone—wherever they may be in their faith, recovery, or life story.
Michael and April’s hope is simple: to create welcoming spaces where people feel seen, encouraged, and a little less alone—and where they may discover that God’s grace is closer than they think.
Michael Prutsman
I'm a songwriter, storyteller, recovery advocate, husband, and follower of Jesus living in the rural hills of New York. Over the years I've worn a lot of hats—pastor, ministry leader, nonprofit executive, mentor, husband, and musician—but through all of it, I've found myself drawn back to the same thing: helping people find hope and meaning in the middle of real life.
The songs and stories I share are rooted in faith, recovery, family, struggle, grace, and the belief that God is present in the ordinary moments that shape us. I call it Theology in Work Boots—a faith that isn't confined to Sunday mornings, but shows up on dirt roads, in hard seasons, around kitchen tables, and in the places where people live, work, and wrestle with life's biggest questions.
My hope is simple: to create spaces where people can slow down, listen well, have honest conversations, and discover that God's grace is often closer than we think.
April Prutsman
I’m a singer, percussionist, wife, follower of Jesus, and partner with Michael in the music and ministry of County Route 84. Although Michael writes most of the songs, the stories behind them have grown out of a life we have shared—through seasons of faith, family, change, disappointment, laughter, and grace.
For me, music is about more than performing. It is a way of connecting with people, sharing something honest, and creating moments that remind us we aren’t alone. Whether we’re singing a familiar song, sharing one of our originals, or simply sitting around talking afterward, I value the relationships that music makes possible.
Theology in Work Boots reflects the kind of faith we want to live together: genuine, practical, and present in everyday life. My hope is that through County Route 84, our Songs & Stories gatherings, and the conversations that grow from them, people will feel welcomed, encouraged, and a little more hopeful than when they arrived.
